The Reaping Scarecrow

This is part of a project meant to establish a set of characters in a series named Blood Ties.
Blood Ties is a personal project I have been picking away at for nearly four years at this point in time.
Part 3 out of 5 of the Golden Riders.

An honest man who hailed from a great city, Colton White searched for a quiet life out in the desert country. There, he settled on the outskirts of a small town and tried to raise a farm of his own. To his dismay, no matter how hard he tried, his fields never yielded any crop. In addition to this, the denizens of the desert did not take too kindly to an outsider's presence near their town. This horrible treatment would eventually lead Colton to snap. Once he tasted blood, he could not stop.
Even when he was put into the ground by the hands of vengeful townspeople, his soul could not find rest. Jeremiah's hand would then reawaken his bloodlust with resurrection. In his new twisted form, Colton became a dancing reaper of death.
